Buttercream Dreams

I'm addicted to cupcakes. So naturally, I first wanted a cupcake wedding cake. All of the vendors I looked into were at least thirty minutes away, and really worried about a possible icing catastrophe in the Kansas heat, so I decided that a regular cake might be the best option.

Once I became open to having a traditional cake, I wanted something along the lines of dessert design queen Amy Atlas. I swooned over this dessert bar with the oversized balloons.

Here are some of the traditional cakes I loved:

Helen Benefiel of Helen's Cakes came highly recommended to us by many Lawrence locals for her beautiful wedding cakes. Her cakes were both lovely and delicious, I was most impressed how Helen took the time to sketch us a custom wedding cake during our tasting. She really listened to our ideas and made us the perfect buttercream cake.

The more posts I read, the more I realize how similar our styles are...from flowers in old mason jars, to vintage stamps to birdcage veils. Let me know if you have it in you to help plan my wedding!
