Recipe: Gooey Butter Cake

Fridays are wonderful for many reasons but they are especially good when it's Eat Day at my school. Today's theme was sweets and treats Halloween and I made Gooey Butter Cake, a recipe Brian's wonderful cousin Pam gave me at my kitchen wedding shower. I thought that the word "gooey" made for a good Halloween treat to fit the theme!

Gooey Butter Cake
1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese
4 eggs
1 pound box powdered sugar

Using mixer, combine cake mix, butter and 2 eggs. The batter will be very sticky and difficulty to work with. Press into 9x13 greased baking dish. Meanwhile, mix the cream cheese and remaining 2 eggs together. While mixer is running, mix in all but 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. When mixture is creamy, pour batter in pan and bake for 35-40 minutes in an 350 degree oven. Edges should be brown. Cool cake and sprinkle top with powdered sugar.
Enjoy!

Riva Diva

If you can't tell, nail polish is one of my favorite accessories. How lovely is Riva from the 2010 Chanel Cruise collection?

Now, I just need to schedule a beach vacation to show it off this winter!

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

Did you ever go trick-or-treating for UNICEF when you were a kid? I remember participating one year and toting my little orange box collecting change alongside my bag filled with candy. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a great cause that's celebrating it's 60th anniversary this year. The program is a good opportunity to teach kids about how it can be easy to help others and still be fun!

California Girl

My Katy Perry Halloween costume inspiration:
Instead of the custom sequined Diesel sorts that she wore at the MTV Movie Awards in June, I took an old pair of jorts and jazzed them up with some sparkly puff paint. Now I need to get the rest of the look together!

What are you going to be for Halloween?

Katy Perry polish

Katy Perry teamed up with OPI to create a nail polish line set to debut at Ulta stores in January.

If I ever paint my nails blue, they'll be Last Friday Night (the "fierce" glittery blue).

I have a feeling Jill will buy a few of these!

The New Gap

The Gap recently released a new logo design.
I'm not a fan. The iconic Gap logo has been the same for quite some time so a new logo isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think what they came up with is very fitting.

Pink October

If pink is your favorite color, there's a good chance that October is your favorite month. From the NFL to home appliances to M&M's, pink is everywhere this month to raise awareness about breast cancer.

One of my favorite stores to browse, Intermix, is selling pink bracelets with 100% of their proceeds going to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. They might have to be my splurge for the month!

I'm helping the cause by raising funds and running in the Susan G. Komen 5K Race for the Cure in Dallas on October 16. Are you doing anything to raise awareness to breast cancer? Have you bought anything pink this month?
