Happy Halloween!

Enjoy a mixed bag of Halloween tricks and treats today...

Carving pumpkins isn't exactly my forte, but decorating with Japanese washi tape makes for no-fail way to colorfully decorate one. Order a few rolls on Etsy and you'll discover plenty of fun uses for it.

The Olsen twins via Haute Like Couture

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are always crossing the line between glam and goth. It's hard not to be intrigued.

Caramel Apple Bites via Try It Mom

Bite size apples dipped in caramel are easier to make than your regular apple on a stick, and have a higher caramel to apple ratio. You can't beat that!

A Pina Ghoulada is just a play on words to scary up a regular Pina Colada. The only difference? It's garnished with blood (corn syrup + red food coloring).

Cute kids.

What's your favorite thing about Halloween?

Comfort Food: Soft Pretzels

Back in the day, if I wasn't sipping on an Orange Julius while purusing the mall, I was likely to be indulging in a soft pretzel.

The adorably charming blog, A Beautiful Mess, has had me drooling over these soft pretzels with raspberry and honey nut butters. Her recipe was adapted from Auntie Anne's, the matriarch of mall and airport soft pretzels.

I made them today and they were delicious! The next time I make them I'll be sure to roll the dough out super long because mine came out a little small and puffy. If you're a soft pretzel fan, you should definitely try this recipe!

Store Your Vices: Jonathan Adler Vice Canisters

The happy chic style of interior designer Jonathan Adler is a perfect collaboration of preppy meeting edgy. These circusy black and white stripe vice canisters caught my eye while browsing through the San Francisco store on Fillmore Street this summer.

Aren't they funny? Additional vice canisters include Kitty Krack, Pep Pills, and Disco Biscuits, among others. There needs to be a jar for nail polish, my vice du jour.

What do you need a vice jar for?

Sock it To Me

I'm smitten with these zippered boots but I'm even more enamored by the comfy boot socks sweetly peeking out over leggings.

Compulsively inspired, I went on a sock shopping spree last weekend. Who knew splurging on socks could be so much fun? I stocked up on knee-high boot socks at Free People, including the pair in the picture above (not currently online).

YAY for boot weather!

Baby Animal Portraits

These adorable baby animal photographs from The Animal Print Shop by Sharon Montrose are sure to make you smile. Talk about cuteness!

I first spotted these baby animal close-ups on one of my favorite blogs, Black*Eiffel. I think they would be darling for a baby room one day. Aww!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

The last time my Kansas City Royals played baseball in October (and won the World Series), I was this size.

Me, circa 1985

While I'll always be a Royals fan, it's been fun the past few years to cheer on the Texas Rangers as they play in their second back-to-back World Series.

My husband and I have been fortunate to go to most of the games during the postseason. Clearly, we don't fool anyone in our faux Rangers gear so I spent last Saturday afternoon on a quest to find a Nelson Cruz jersey. I've never been a jersey wearer, but for some reason (maybe it was the grand slam walk off I witnessed), I really want to represent #17. Apparently, so does everyone else in Dallas. They were sold out everywhere. Boomstick, baby!

Sans jersey and too stubborn for a regular Rangers shirt, my most recent spirit gear consisted of these bracelets and bangles my sweet friend Molly gave me for my birthday.

I'm still on the lookout for a Cruz jersey (or t-shirt), so if you spot one, let me know. Go Rangers!

Egg Crate Jewelry Display

I picked up one of these Farmer's Egg Crates from Anthropologie with no intention of using it for egg storage.

Instead, it makes a great jewelry organizer.

It's perfect for easy access to frequently worn items. How do you store or display your jewelry?

If you're interested in my baubles and bangles, here ya go!

Front: Turquoise drop earrings from Jenna B's Boutique, vintage tiny rose earrings, coral stone ring from San Francisco street vendor, natural stone earrings from So Good in New Orleans

Center: Chelsea necklace in gold from Stella & Dot (birthday gift from my sister), House of Harlow ring, Pearl Bracelet by Kathy Logan Jewelry (bridal party gift from Kathleen), Jennifer Zeuner Initial Pendant necklace (anniversary gift from Brian)

Modge Podge Chairs

When it comes to interior design, my tastes are a bit eclectic. I would rather have a collection of pieces that I love than focus on a particular style. Inspired by the picture below, I'm hoping to acquire a collection of some of my favorite chairs.

What kinds of chairs do you like? Where would you put a mix of chairs in your home? I'm think they would be fun as seating for a breakfast nook table.

The Marcel Breuer Cesca Chair reminds me of the 80s, but it has actually been around since 1928. Thanks to Old Brand New for identifying it.

I like the very simple, traditional appeal of the Edgar Bentwood Chair.

They are super modern, but Philippe Starck Ghost Chairs are so cool.

Cute Bistro Chairs are delightfully charming.

It's totally a classic wedding chair, but I love the look of Chivari Chairs at home.

Sparkly vinyl. Need I say more about a Retro Diner Chair?
