Sunday Brunch — French Toast for Deux

Do you ever go to bed excited to fall asleep because you're looking forward to eating breakfast in the morning? That's what happened to me last night when I decided that homemade French Toast is what we would be enjoying for a lazy Sunday breakfast at home. I made a few modifications to my mom's tried-and-true French Toast recipe, and if I must say, the outcome was quite delicious.

French Toast for Deux
4 slices sourdough bread
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt
2 tablespoons butter

Whisk eggs, milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and a dash of salt in bowl. Pour mixture over bread in a baking dish and allow to soak for approximately 10 minutes. In a skillet, heat butter on medium until it melts and then add slices of bread soaked in mixture. Cook each side for approximately 2 minutes. I topped ours with banana, pecans, cinnamon sugar, and maple syrup. Feel free to add whatever your little heart desires. Enjoy!
