The Birthday Party Project

When you're a kid, birthdays are a really big deal. From putt-putt parties to scavenger hunts, I'm fortunate that it was never a question that I'd get to have a yearly birthday celebration of one more candle on my cake. It never crossed my mind that not every child was quite as lucky.

Thanks to The Birthday Party Project in Dallas, homeless kids who might not otherwise get to have a birthday party are being given the opportunity to have one. When my friend Jill of Stamped Paper Co. first told me about the project (she designed the logo above), my heart beamed with joy. For birthday lovers like myself, this is a cause that I couldn't help but get excited about. Birthday parties, both my own and of friends, were my everything as a youngster. For a donation of only $40, you can cover the expenses of one child's birthday celebration at a local homeless shelter.  Watch The Birthday Party Project video and you'll probably want to give up a little of your birthday cash to do something good. That's what I plan on doing this month.

Oh, and pardon my silence yesterday, I was out celebrating my birthday! :)
