Portland — Mother's

It's always interesting to hear what other people have to say about their favorite places when traveling. Thanks to my friend Molly, who appreciates food as much as I do, I had a list of places to eat that was longer than our time in Portland allowed. It was tough to narrow down her picks, but dining at Mother's  for breakfast was a must.

From the chandeliers to the bay windows, the fresh yet elegant ambiance at Mother's made it among the best I've had for breakfast. I'm usually more focused on the food but this space visually appealed to me more than most busy breakfast spots.

And the food? The common conundrum of sweet versus savory for breakfast got me good at Mother's. I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy and half an order crunchy french toast. Both were tasty.

Go here for a good meal in a lovely setting. If you think your mom's breakfast is better, nominate her to be a MOM (Mother of the Month) where she'll get to showcase her best meal on the menu.
