Halloween — Candy Corn

Happy Halloween! Let's chat candy corn today. It's Halloween's most ubiquitous candy that is adored by some and scorned by others.  Most people fall into one of the two categories. Whether you love it or hate it, it's an undeniable symbol of Halloween. There aren't many who fall into the "meh" category recording corn that is candy.

I like it, but as I'm a seasonal sweets person, so I only am able to enjoy in September and October. Come tomorrow (November 1st) is would practically be blasphemy to eat it. One could make the argument that it's okay to eat candy corn's cousin, Indian corn ("Harvest corn") after October, but it's not the same.

It just crossed my mind that I haven't eaten one single piece of candy corn this season and my candy corn calendar year is about to start over. I'm not going to go out of my way to buy any today but if some happens to come my way... yay.

A few weeks ago at Big Top Candy Shop in Austin, I tried some salt water taffy fall flavors including caramel apple, s'mores, pumpkin pie, and of course, candy corn. It was insanely good and better than the real deal. Who would have thought? Candy corn haters, I think you would like it.

What are your thoughts on candy corn?

Candy corn is my absolute favorite! I can eat an entire bag in one sitting - with a major sugar high of course! I'll have to stop Big Top Candy Shop next time I am in Austin.

I forgot to mention the pumpkin corn thingies too.

Yeah, I think people love 'em or hate 'em. Those that don't like them always say they taste like wax. I totally get that argument, but I'm still a fan.

I am not a fan of candy corn. I feel like they taste like wax. Granted I haven't given them another try since I was a kid. I didn't know that salt water taffy candy had fall flavors. Now that sounds like something I could eat one after another! I will have to keep my eye out for these flavors. Thanks so much for sharing.
