La Isla Restaurant in Hoboken

I am completely smitten with Hoboken, the adorable New Jersey city that's just a hop, skip, and a jump across the Hudson from NYC. Mostly, I love it because I get to spend time there with Hannah, but it certainly would be charming even without that. One lazy morning we enjoyed a Cuban feast of a breakfast at La Isla Restaurant in Hoboken. When your friend is married to a chef, you know that the spots she takes out to eat are the real deal.

For my meal, I had a large Cuban Latte to accompany my Omar’s Stuffed French Toast that was featured on Food Network's Throwdown With Bobby Flay. Omar's is pullman style egg bread filled with guava marmalade cream cheese, dipped in cinnamon batter and coated with corn flakes and almonds.

I could have stopped after a few filling, bites but the guava cream cheese filling kept begging me to come back for more.
